Record number patients seen by Chatham County Safety Net health care providers

Almost 27,000 patients were seen last year by area health care providers that are part of the Safety Net Planning Council, and a record number of visits, at 106,821, were reported by the providers.  About 78 percent of the patients were uninsured, according to the evaluation report presented on Oct. 22 to the Chatham County Commissioners  by the Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council. Children (younger than 18) represented 13.5 percent of the patients seen.
