Grant awarded for public policy education and research

The Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation has awarded a grant to Step Up Savannah to work with Georgia Legal Services Program to find solutions for policy and procedural barriers that hinder families motivated to move out of poverty.

The grant will support a public policy specialist who will review and evaluate local, regional and state policies that impact people living in poverty. The specialist will work at GLSP; policy issues will be identified through Step Up's volunteer action teams in the areas of workforce development and jobs, financial education/wealth building and critical work supports such as affordable housing, healthcare, childcare, and public benefits.
