Check out a new national report: "Banking On Opportunity"

The National League of Cities just issued a report focusing on the successes and challenges of Bank On campaigns. Savannah's own Bank On campaign is highlighted.  "Banking On Opportunity" credits the city of San Francisco for launching the first campaign (view of video of  SF Treasurer Jose Cisneros, who spoke at our recent annual meeting, on our FB fan page).

The report points out who the "unbanked" are (and no real surprises here--Savannah found similar results when we researched our market 3  years ago): 1)Low-income households--nationally, about 71% of unbanked households have annual earnings below $30,000; 2) Minorities--almost 54% of African-American households, 44.5% of American Indian/Alaskan households and 43.3% of Hispanic households nationally are un- or under-banked; and 3) Immigrants--"just 27 percent of Mexican and 34 percent of El Salvadoran heads of households have a bank account" in the U.S.
