Don't pay to have your taxes prepared! Get your taxes prepared for free by IRS-certified volunteers at one of the 14 area Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites. If you earned $52,000 or less in 2010, you may be eligible to receive this free service. Volunteers are trained and certified by the IRS to assist you in claiming all of the credits that you are eligible for. Returns are electronically-filed, and you'll receive your refund in approximately seven days with direct deposit. At some VITA locations, you'll even be able to open a bank account from one of the Bank on Savannah banking partners to benefit from fast refunds with direct deposit.

Save some, spend some: Now more than ever, it's important to have some savings to see you through emergencies. You now have to option to direct your refund into up to three different bank accounts to make it easier to put even a little bit of your refund away to help you reach your savings goals. You can also purchase US Savings Bonds for yourself or the children in your life for as little as $50 with part of your refund.
